President Barack Obama has selected Sonia Sotomayor of New York to be his nominee for the next U.S. Supreme Court Justice, replacing retiring Justice David Souter.
We also learn Sotomayor is a lifelong Yankees fan and Obama credits her with saving baseball...
...and here we learn her view on application of facts in a case and doing justice in a particular case.
Sotomayor has been on the Supreme radar since Souter announced he would retire. In early May, Karl Rove, former advisor to President Bush, had this to say about Sotomayor:

Sounds like she's going to have some questions thrown at her during confirmation process based upon those statements in the video she made about application of facts vs. justice in a case.
Good thing the first Bush appointed her to the bench.
Another racist, Latino, activist who has an agenda to transform the culture this nation' success is predicated upon into a mimic of the demonstrably failed cultures of other countries. But what else could we expect from a man who has nothing but contempt for this nation like Barack Hussein Obama.
I thought we were done with quotas
THIS IS THE ONE, THE ONE I HAVE BEEN PREDICTING WILL allow a referenda to allow Cal, Ariz, N.M. and Tex. to be returned to Mexico. .with the help of LA RAZA AND the 9th circuit in SanFrancisco..Mark my words. SO MUCH FOR EQUAL RIGHTS.
So much for the melting pot...
I wonder what defines an 'average American'...
This is a great day - the gov't is full of diversity all the way to the top.
Even Reagan and Bush judicial appointees like her. She's in.
Sotomayor will get confirmed and this may sound politically incorrect, but I hope Obama doesn't appoint any further women. Most women judges were once high-strung women lawyers who got their kicks pushing people around.
It's perfectly alright to have a Hispanic Woman judge claim she can make laws from the bench and then laugh about it....what an uneducated bunch Americans have become. Thanks to public education, black is white, up is down, and right is left. What a country.
A beaner on the bench! OH JOY!
Did you know that 5 out of 6 of this Judge Sotomayor opinions have been overturned by the Supreme Court? And she gets rewarded by Obama by being sent to the Supreme Court where her opinions get overturned because they are so lame. What a country. What a president. Talk about the "Peter Principle". Only in America.
As this comment is being written there is a boy in Minnesota that is being forced to submit to chemotherapy by a court (government). In the past I written of the “invisible contracts” that government imposes on all of us.
On April 25, 2009, I referenced the of West v. West, 689 N.E.2d 1215 (1998) wherein the following statements were written by the court:
In fact, the entire familial relationship involves the State. When two people decide to get married, they are required to first procure a license from the State. If they have children of this marriage, they are required by the State to submit their children to certain things, such as school attendance and vaccinations. Furthermore, if at some time in the future the couple decides the marriage is not working, they must petition the State for a divorce. Marriage is a three-party contract between the man, the woman, and the State. Linneman v. Linneman, 1 Ill. App. 2d 48, 50, 116 N.E.2d 182, 183 (1953), citing Van Koten v. Van Koten, 323 Ill. 323, 326, 154 N.E. 146 (1926).
The Minnesota case is a real live example of the enforcement by government of its third party position or rights as a party to that contract imposed on marriages by virtue of the marriage license.
I am sure that many will disagree. But where is the right of the person/patient to choice of treatment?
This country will support the ability, no, the right of a 13 year old girl, without consultation with parents, no, the purposeful elimination of the parents from the counseling process to decide to have an abortion and hale that as a great stride for individual choice while at the same time a 13 year old boy with counseling and consultation with his parents and physician is denied the right to chose and decide on a course of treatment.
Choice is not choice nor allowed unless it arises out of a politically correct subject. The two positions are not reconcilable while the bullying of government grows.
So just how much more government would you like to see in your life? This woman will not hesitate to impose government on all of us or whe would not hvae been chosen.
What if she is having her period during an important decision? She will be full of all those hormones and make a wrong decision. Anyone who is married knows that when decisions are made under these conditions they are not always correct ones.
an avowed socialist from the looks of her college yearbook...more facisism to come....hang on. I wonder if Obama remembers what happened to Mussolini!
OBAMA using more of the stelth tactics of a community organizer again. Install someone to do your bidding and than back away from their ideas....LIKE GUN CONTROL. Soto is definately going to get your gun...more change you can beleive in but can't do anything about. After the deed watch this bastard Obama back away from her. I would urge you all who believe in the right to bear arms to join the National Rifle Association today...calling your weak sister Senators like DUURBAN and BURRASS will not get you anywhere. Only the power of an organization with money will succeed in defeating people like this. Shakowski and that creep from Batavia will definately get your gun.
Why do we need guns? Uhhh becauase there are so many out there, and some in the hand of nutters... so it's a spiralling chain downwards.
God Bless America.
